D'Bara Arruda

ECHOES OF AFRICA

A BODY.

A CROSSROAD.

WHERE ART, ROOTED IN ANCESTRY, THROUGH MUSIC AND POETRY, INVITES YOU TO EVOLVE.

D'Bara Arruda is not just a name.
It is a drum that beats before its time, it is a song that bleeds and heals, it is a body that dances the word and the word that screams the silence.
It is living music crossing continents and memories.
Born in the Vila Cruzeiro favela, in the heart of Penha, Rio de Janeiro, D'Bara grew up amidst the rubble of inequality, where talent is resilience and art is a shield. He refused to be a statistic. He chose his voice, his verse, his drumming, and the stage.
Singer, percussionist, poet, composer, performer and educator, he is a contemporary griot who transforms wounds into art and transforms art into healing.
His voice carries the ancestry of the terreiros, the trickery of samba, the echo of Afro-Brazilian drums and the whisper of the crossroads of the world.
Living in Sweden since 2002, he walks with his feet firmly planted on the sacred ground of African and Northeastern memory. His song straddles the line between lament and enchantment. His poems are survival maps for those who, like him, insist on existing with dignity.
Son of the diaspora, grandson of faith, brother of marginal poetry and roots music.
On stage, he ignites souls. In his verses, he unleashes truths.
In the drum, he carries the hearts of those who were silenced.
In melody, it translates what is not said with the mouth — but with the body.
D'Bara Arruda is the synthesis of what resists:
the word that fights, the music that liberates,
the body that does not bend,
and the path that is not lost.
D'Bara is the one who sings, heals and confronts.
It is those who came not to ask for space — but to be their own territory.
